Fog Light: An Essential Instrument for Safe Driving

As its name suggests, fog light helps visibility in the fog. Actually these lights are used in car and truck for safe driving. This light is a must have for anyone to drive safely in the night. It
can also be helpful to drive against heavy rain, fog or snow. By using this
light the driver can easily view behind or in fronts because they are much
brighter or sharper than the regular flood light of cars. This is even more forceful
than brake light.

Color of fog light plays an important role to have most advantage from them. Different colors light have different capacity to penetrate the fog. Usually yellow color
is used in fog light. It reduces dispersion as the light hits the water vapor
and scatters in different directions. It has the longest wavelength of visible
light next to red color. As red color has more penetrating power it could have
been chosen. It penetrates faster than that of other colors. It has more visibility
power in mist or fog from a longer distance than other colors. However, red is
usually used in traffic to show a stop signal, and there are red tail lights. Always
using the same color may look odd. Making use of the same color everywhere may
lead to common confusion. Therefore a yellow color was taken into
consideration. Because it is a bright color and it has more penetration power.
For that reason yellow is generally used. Fog lights of purplish color are also
in use these days as these are very bright.
